Waldan Chronograph Chronometer ref. 0192

When thinking of the quintessential Waldan model to represent its 40+ years, most will agree that the Chronograph Chronometer holds the title. Originally crafted in the late 1990’s, the Waldan Chronograph Chronometer became the most well-known and seen Waldan watch amongst collectors. It was executed in two size variations: the first produced model, ref. 0192, a compact yet robust 36mm size, and a larger 38mm variant, the ref. 0195.

Each model was produced in a myriad of dial executions, with varying aesthetic differences. Numerals were either Breguet style, Roman or Arabic. Handsets varied between Breguet and leaf style hands; and the dials presented themselves with new color ways for Waldan made watches, ranging from slivered colors with a cool metallic finish to radiant and reflective colored enamel dials. Models were mostly signed “Waldan International Co” or “Waldan International”, while later models were signed “Oscar Waldan” after the 2000’s.

Stemming from the function and pedigree of the watch, the Waldan Chronograph Chronometer’s name comes from the primary complication of the watch, its chronograph feature, as well as the “Chronometer” grading of its Swiss made Valjoux caliber 7751 automatic winding movement. Each movement has been inspected and certified by the C.O.S.C via a “Chronometer” certificate, which we retain in our locked archives.

The casing of the Chronograph Chronometer is unique as well. Oscar designed the cases with the intent of housing the movement without the use of an expansive spacer ring, as well as his signature stepping design. The cases were made in either platinum (rare), 18K yellow gold, white gold, and Waldan gold. Waldan gold is 18K gold - but a custom color that was created by Oscar Waldan that falls near rose gold, without the pink tint. The crystal is a domed sapphire crystal, with either a sapphire crystal open display back in most models or a solid gold/platinum back. It is estimated that these watches maintained a combined yearly production of 100 pieces until ceased in 2009.

Being one of few models produced in solid platinum, this rare variation of the Chronograph Chronometer ref. 0192 (36mm case) is an early model from the 1990’s. The metallic silvered white dial features an early “Waldan International” signature with applied white gold Breguet style numerals, leaf style hands, and the sunken registers on the dial feature the earlier numeral font, confirming the authenticity of the age of the watch. This model has hour/minute, triple date (day/date/month), moon phase and chronograph complications. This watch will arrive with an original manual/handbook for the Valjoux 7751 movement, original instruction manual and original Waldan blue suede presentation box. Copies of the C.O.S.C “Chronometer” certificate can be provided upon request. This watch has been professionally restored to meet warranty standards while keeping it in as original and authentic condition as possible and is warrantied for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase.
